Christopher Marlowe as a playwright


Christopher Marlowe was a famous English writer. He is also known as Kit Marlowe. He was born in Canterbury, few months ago of Shakespeare. He was known as the master of Shakespeare in tragedy. 

His father John Marlowe was a shoe maker.He studied from Cambridge University and he was known as one of the university wits.

His writing years considered from 1587 to 1593, almost 5 years. His first play is the Tamburlaine which was written at the age of 23 in 1587,after 5 years he was arrested on 18th May 1593 without any reason and in 1593 he was stabbed to death by Ingram Frizer.

 "Tamburlaine the Great" is considered as the first play about the conqueror it was a great success and it was followed by two parts of it and it's two parts was published in 1590.

All the other works except Tamburlaine was published posthumously, after the death of Christopher Marlowe.Ben Johnson gave a phrase"Marlowe's mighty lines"for his use of blank verse.His tragedies are also known as "One man tragedy".

Marlowe wrote many plays and poems. Some of his most famous works are "Tamburlaine the Great", "Doctor Faustus", and "Edward II". People loved his writing because it was beautiful and poetic.

Marlowe's plays were about big ideas and emotions. He wrote about love, power, and death. His writing was influenced by ancient Greek and Roman stories.His plays reflects the spirit of renaissance,as we can see in "Dr.Faustus."

Marlowe was a brave writer. He wrote about things that people didn't usually talk about. He also wrote about strong feelings and emotions.

Sadly, Marlowe died very young. He was just 29 years old when he died. But his writing lives on. People still read and perform his plays today.

Marlowe's writing is important because it shows us what life was like in England a long time ago. It also shows us the big ideas and emotions that people thought about back then.

Overall, Christopher Marlowe was a great writer who wrote beautiful and important works. We can still learn from his writing today.
